Overview

Drone Cadets is committed to not only empowering students but also equipping educators with the skills and confidence they need to teach drone technology effectively. Our Professional Development (PD) Program is specifically designed for teachers, school administrators, and community educators who are interested in integrating drone technology into their educational settings. This training ensures that educators are well-prepared to guide students in their drone journey and foster an innovative learning environment

Benefits

Hands-On Experience: Educators gain direct experience with drone flight operations, coding, and maintenance, ensuring they have the practical skills needed to facilitatestudent learning.
FAA Compliance: Training includes an overview of FAA safety standards, airspace regulations, and how to maintain compliance during drone operations.
Confidence in Drone Curriculum: Educators will leave the training prepared toimplement drone technology across various subjects, including STEM, geography, arts, and technology.
Classroom Integration: Learn how to integrate drones into lesson plans to supportproject-based learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Networking: The program provides an opportunity to connect with other educators, share best practices, and foster a community dedicated to innovative teaching through technology.

What to ExpecT

The Professional Development Program includes hands-on training sessions focused on both the technical and instructional aspects of drones. Educators are trained on

Drone Technology Fundamentals
Learn about drone types, components, and systems, with a focus on small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) and their applications in education.

Flight Operations and Safety
Gain an understanding of basic flight controls, safety protocols, FAA regulations, and pre-flight/post-flight checks to ensure all drone activities are conducted safely and effectively.
Curriculum Development
Participants learn how to build and modify lesson plans to incorporate drone activities into their curriculum, including subjects like mathematics, physics, and geography.
Coding with Drones
Educators receive training on drone coding using block-based coding platforms such as Scratch and Python. This training enables teachers to introduce students to programming fundamentals in a fun and engaging way.
Practical Training

Sessions Educators get practical flight experience, learning how to guide students through the process of operating drones, performing basic maneuvers, and completing flight missions. This includes indoor and outdoor flight sessions, adapting to different environments.
Equipment Familiarity and Troubleshooting
Learn about the equipment used in drone training—including different types of drones and accessories—and how to troubleshoot common technical issues to ensure seamless class sessions
