Middletown, New York January 18, 2023- Drone Cadets announces an exciting partnership with Vets to Drones, aimed at helping veterans become certified drone instructors. This collaboration enables veterans to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to introduce STEM and robotics to underserved children in their local communities through drones.

Drone Flight School for Veterans

As part of the partnership, veterans will take part in Drone Cadets’ comprehensive drone training program, Drone Flight School. This program focuses on providing a thorough understanding of drone technology, safety, and the skills required for successful drone operation.

Tony Reid, CEO of Drone Cadets, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with Vets to Drones, giving veterans the chance to share their expertise with the next generation.”

Empowering Underserved Youth through Drone Technology

Drone technology is a rapidly expanding industry, and Reid believes that by offering underserved children the chance to learn from veterans, they can develop a solid foundation for success in this field. As a former NYC Corrections Officer at Rikers Island, Reid witnessed high recidivism rates among youth and sought to break the cycle.

Freelance Opportunities for Veterans

The partnership also provides veterans the opportunity to work as freelance drone instructors, granting them a new source of income and a chance to give back to their communities. Chris Lewis, Founder and CEO of Vets to Drones, said, “We are honored to partner with Drone Cadets to help our veterans find meaningful employment and contribute to their communities.”

Lewis added that the partnership benefits not only the veterans but also the underserved children who can learn from their experience and service. Both Drone Cadets and Vets to Drones are eager to commence this partnership, as it positively impacts veterans and underserved children alike.

Drone Cadets and Vets to Drones: Closing the Diversity Gap

Drone Cadets’ mission is to empower underserved communities worldwide by providing accessible Drone STEM programs to help close the diversity gap in the workforce. Their comprehensive program teaches students how to build, repair, code, and successfully operate a drone, with pathways for students as young as eight years old to post-secondary education through a workforce development initiative. Their work also extends to re-entry programs, helping incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals find sustainable careers in the drone industry.

Vets to Drones prepares military and first responder veterans to enter the commercial UAS industry and transition into civilian life. The commercial drone industry offers opportunities that cater to the skillsets veterans bring to the civilian workforce. Each phase of the Vets to Drones course is designed to educate new UAS pilots in UAS operations while building a sense of community. This forward-thinking community not only provides veterans with employment opportunities but also contributes to a brighter future for America through UAS technology.
